How do I manage membership pauses and billing adjustments in PushPress?

Managing membership pauses and billing adjustments in PushPress involves understanding how to pause memberships, extend pauses, and handle billing behavior during and after pauses. This guide provides step-by-step instructions and key considerations for these processes.

Pausing a Membership

To pause a member’s billing and schedule the correct resume date:

  1. Open the member’s profile and locate the active plan you want to pause.

  2. Click the three dots next to the plan and select "Pause Plan."

  3. Set the "Pause on Date" to indicate when the pause should start.

  4. Set the "Resume on Date" to specify when billing should restart. Leaving this blank will make the pause indefinite.

  5. Confirm by clicking "Pause Plan."

This process ensures that the membership is paused correctly and resumes on the desired date.

Extending a Membership Pause

If a member requests an extension of their pause period, you can update the resume date without triggering a charge. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the member’s profile and locate the paused plan.

  2. Click the three dots next to the plan and select "Resume Plan."

  3. Set a new "Resume on Date" to reflect the extended pause period.

  4. Click "Pause Plan" to save the updated pause.

Key Billing Behavior During Pauses:

  • No charges will be processed while the plan status is set to "Paused," even if the Next Bill Date remains unchanged.

  • When the plan resumes, any paid-days credit will be applied, and the Next Bill Date will update accordingly.

Billing Adjustments After Pauses

When a membership is paused and then resumed, the billing schedule adjusts automatically:

  • The billing date shifts forward by the length of the pause.

  • Upon resumption, the member retains the remaining days in their current billing cycle.

  • The next billing date occurs after those remaining days, effectively moving the billing schedule forward by the paused duration.

If a membership was paused, auto-restarted, and charged on the restart date, and the member now wants the pause extended, you can pause the membership again. PushPress will automatically recalculate the time owed and any money already collected. On the next unpause date, the system will resume the membership without collecting another payment for the period already covered.

Summary

PushPress provides flexible tools for managing membership pauses and billing adjustments. By following the steps outlined above, you can ensure accurate billing and seamless membership management for your members.
