How to create multiple test accounts in PushPress using Gmail plus-addressing so accounts don't get merged during testing.

Written by Jessica Hamel

Overview

When testing in PushPress, creating a test member with your own email address can trigger an account merge β€” because PushPress automatically merges accounts that share the same email. This article explains how to create multiple test accounts using a single Gmail address.

Who can do this: Any admin or staff member

Applies to: Gmail and Google Workspace email accounts

How to Use Email Aliases for Testing

Gmail (and Google Workspace) supports plus addressing β€” adding +text to your email before the @ creates a unique address that still delivers to your original inbox.

Example:

Use

Email to enter in PushPress

Your real account

Test member 1

Test member 2

Test lead

All emails sent to these addresses will arrive in your regular inbox at jessica@gmail.com. PushPress treats each +tag variation as a unique email, so accounts will not be merged.

Important Notes

  • This trick only works with Gmail and Google Workspace (G Suite) email β€” it does not work with Outlook, Yahoo, or most other providers

  • You can use any tag after the + β€” keep them short and descriptive for easy cleanup later

  • When you're done testing, you can delete test member accounts from the Control Panel
