Why are waivers in PushPress only sent to users with a membership plan?

Overview of Waiver Functionality in PushPress

In PushPress, waivers (such as liability waivers) are essential documents designed to be part of your onboarding flow for new members. These documents are configured to be sent based on specific triggers in the user journey. However, waivers are not automatically sent unless a membership plan has been assigned to the individual's profile. This intentional design ensures waivers are tied to active engagement with your services.

Why Waivers Are Dependent on a Membership Plan

Waivers are tied directly to the member onboarding process in PushPress and are triggered by the assignment of a membership plan. The system logic ensures that waivers are relevant and contextually appropriate by associating them with a trial, drop-in, or new membership plan assignment. Here’s what this means:

  • Leads or contacts without an assigned plan do not receive waivers. If a waiver is configured at the "person" level, it will only be triggered and sent once the individual has been assigned a membership plan like a trial or a full subscription.

  • Waivers cannot be sent to prospects without assigning a plan first. Waivers are integrated into the plan-first flow on your landing page, ensuring they are presented at the right stage during sign-up.

How to Ensure Waivers Are Sent

If a waiver has not been sent or does not appear under a member’s "Documents" section, it’s likely because the member or prospect does not have a plan assigned yet. To address this issue:

  1. Assign a Membership Plan: - Navigate to the member’s profile in PushPress. - Add a trial, drop-in, or membership plan to their account. - Once the plan is added, the waiver will automatically be sent to the member for signature.

  2. Verify Waiver Configuration: - Ensure that the waiver in question is configured at the “person” level. - Confirm that all required details, such as the plan assignment, are correctly set up.

Common Issues and Solutions

  1. Issue: New members do not see the Liability Waiver under the "Documents" section. - Solution: Add a membership plan to their profile. Once done, the waiver will be sent and appear under "Documents."

  2. Issue: Waivers need to be sent to everyone signing up, regardless of plan. - Solution: This is not supported in PushPress. Waivers are triggered by plan assignments and cannot be sent before a member is assigned a plan.

Summary

In PushPress, waivers are an integral part of the member onboarding process but require a membership plan assignment to be sent. This functionality ensures that waivers are relevant and aligns with the context of a member’s engagement with your organization. By understanding and configuring plans appropriately, you can ensure a smooth waiver process.
